This was my first visit and I won't be back. The minute you walk in, the smell is so overpowering and nauseating. It looks dirty and run down. Dr. Hammerquist was not warm or welcoming. He seemed put out to even examine my dog. He was also rough with my dog when assecing his tooth that needed to be pulled. When paying the astronomical money for these services, I expect much more in return! Do better.

The lady upfront helping customers is very arrogant, acting bothered that we came in for our appointment. (every once in a while she should turn around & take a look at the big framed picture that they have in the office that says they respect customers lol ) . But I should add that the main doctor was a very nice fellow .

I am thankful that your clinic was able to fit in my 17-year-old Maltipoo, Max, on very short notice when he was experiencing organ failure and breathing had become labored. The vet was very compassionate and helped me understand that it was time for him to peacefully pass on. The reason I am giving 3 stars is because the experience itself was deeply traumatizing for me and my dog. Before the euthanasia injection, the vet gave Max another injection that was supposed to “relax and soothe” him and told us that it would take about 5 minutes to kick in. Within about 2 and a half minutes my dog reacted by looking completely terrified and fearful and fought to get out of my arms. Max (my dog) is the most gentle, happy and loving dog there is..and this was not like him. He was clearly terrified out of his mind. My mother had to help me hold him while he struggled. About a minute and a half later he was completely unconscious. Shortly after that the vet came in and administered the euthanasia injection. Max trusted me completely, and seeing him so fearful in his final moments is something I still cry about. I feel like I betrayed his trust in me. I don't understand WHY you need to give an injection before a euthanasia injection..I hear that Sawtooth Vet has recently changed hands and my only reasoning for issuing an injection BEFORE the injection (make it make sense) is to pad someone's pockets. I may be wrong but I don't see any other reason for giving two injections. I have worked in a veterinary clinic before and have witnessed many euthanasia procedures, including with my own pets, and I have never experienced anything like this. In my experience, most pets simply become sleepy and peacefully pass within seconds after the euthanasia medication and there is no need to give them a sedative before the injection. Sadly, this experience felt very different and was deeply upsetting for both Max and me. For other pet owners, I would strongly encourage asking questions beforehand about what medications will be administered, what reactions may occur, and whether there are different options available. I also believe it would help owners tremendously if the clinic prepared families more thoroughly for what to expect emotionally and physically during the procedure. If this review helps even one pet owner avoid going through the fear, panic, and trauma that my dog and I experienced, then sharing this difficult experience is worth it. No pet or owner should have to go through such a heartbreaking goodbye without fully understanding what to expect. I still want to thank the staff and doctor for their compassion and working my dog in on such short notice. Rest in peace Max..you are forever loved and deeply missed.
